OFSTED
Ofsted inspected West Coventry Academy on 15-16 October 2019. The report is based on a new framework, introduced in September 2019 and has significantly higher expectations than any that Ofsted have had before. There are five areas of judgement and this is how we were assessed:
The quality of education Requires improvement
Behaviour and attitudes Good
Personal development Good
Leadership and management Good
Sixth-form provision Good
The inspection team agreed with all areas for development, as identified by us at the start of the academic year. They also approved of our plans to address these issues but felt that there had not been enough time for these plans to show the necessary improvements for an overall judgement of ‘Good’. The judgement for the quality of education is the one which limits the overall judgment, so we are temporarily classified as “requires improvement” until our plans have had effect and Ofsted come again to see the evidence for themselves.
I am very pleased with what we have achieved so far this academic year and immensely proud of the students and staff of West Coventry Academy.
